What is a hub?

Your work must be original, don't even think of copying someone else's stuff, that won't work.

Setting up your profile page
I think it is important to remember to keep it short and simple when you set up your profile page,readers don't want to know what award you won in 8th grade on your profile.
I do think it is very important that you put your link to all the social media sites you use on your profile and I will tell you why,when your page gets indexed into the search engines that info will show up and you will get more followers or readers.
Also have a good email address on your profile so people can reach you.
How do I get paid?
When you write your first hub,you will go to my accounts and set up your Google account.
I recommend that you set your account up on a ppc or pay per click and have them do a direct deposit into your checking account, but you can set it up however you like.
Then sign up for hubpages,they also will pay you, they have a ad plan very similar to Google.
Finally you can set up a Amazon account and you will get 20% of any sales you refer to Amazon from your hubs,this is not available to people living in California as of now, they may start accepting affiliates again in the future, I'm not sure.
Using Amazon on hubpages is simple,lets say for example that you are writing a hub about books,you can click on the Amazon widget and then click on search by keyword and type in books and Amazon will recommend a book for the content of the hub you are writing you simply add it to your hub and click the publish button and it will make you money from now on.
The more you write,the more you will make.
Set yourself a goal to write 2 or 3 quality blogs a week.
When I say quality, I mean original content
Over 400 words in length.
Keep in mind that once you publish it,you will earn money on it from then on.
One good article can make you hundreds or thousands of dollars

Since this is where you are going to be working,you want to learn everything you can about hubpages website.
Click on the help button on the top right hand side and read the entire page, if you do that it will answer most any question you may have about hubpages.
Follow other Hubbers or Writers
While on hubpages you can click a hubbers name and it will take you to their profile page.
You can read their hubs from their,if you like the hub click the like button and it also has a menu where you can select if the hub was beautiful,interesting etc.
Use those buttons on any site you are on, that is what they are there for.
If you see something inappropriate click the flag button, a menu will pop up and you can select the reason why you are flagging it, for example it has a adult picture on it.
Remember your kid may be viewing that page and you wouldn't want them to see something like that.
Use the forum
The forum is a valuable tool.
Use it.
You can play games.keep up with contest,answer a question,ask a question etc in the forum
please remember that the forum is moderated and not for you to spam your links in,they will not allow that,although there are places in the forum where you can post your links,try not to abuse the forum.
Create a Niche market for your readers
I think Niche's make the most money, for example recipes.
Just keep on writing original hubs on different recipes that you know and before long you will have many people reading your hubs because of your Niche (recipes)
But you can truly write about whatever you want and make good money.

Remember to be a good online friend, re share other peoples posts on all social media sites,accept people for who they are and you will go far.
Use comment forms on websites and always leave your link.
Create a email signature, that has all your info on all the social media sites you use and add your phone number so people can get in touch with you.
Always respond to any comment on your blog.
Even if it is something you don't agree with you can always be nice and agree to disagree.
Don't argue with your readers, I see people make this mistake too often.
Also remember to build your email contact list.

Google has all the tools you will ever need to make your blog search engine friendly.

You will learn to use the correct keywords,meta tags to get traffic to your site from all the major search engines.
Once you have signed up with Google just go to the webmaster tools and go through the wizard and it will help you take make your site search engine friendly in 12 steps.

I recommend using Submit Express to submit your site to all the search engines.
It is free and takes about a minute,be sure and use a valid email address because you have to confirm some of your submissions.

Create a Google group
Find people you like and can work with and invite them to join your group.
With a group all the members can be your support system.
You can brainstorm and help each other.
Keep your Google Profile up to date
Many people search google profiles
Make sure all your links and contact info is up to date.
Make sure you have your right address etc.
